This is is the last week for preorders.

The 4th Annual ARC Salon proved a difficulty for our judges as the quality was so impressive that their decisions extended weeks past the deadline. The judges decided to include 150 finalists instead of the usual 100, as it was impossible to eliminate any more items, when those remaining were of such high quality.
All 150 finalists are represented in this year's catalog.
ARC Chairman, Fred Ross' Keynote Address to the Oil Painters of America, applauded as a definitive analysis of 19th century art history, is included in its entirety.

When ARC Chairman, Fred Ross Spoke at the Met

Published June 10, 2008

On June 7, 2001-- Fred Ross, Chairman of the Art Renewal Center, addressed a crowd of over 700 portrait artists, gallery owners and members of the press at America's premier institution of art, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, at the American Society of Portrait Artists (ASOPA) Conference. Mr Ross was interrupted at least 10 times to thunderous applause or peals of laughter, as he blasted Modernism and its chief icons, Picasso, Mattisse and DeKooning, with some of the most biting, yet truthful satire that has ever been heard in those sanctified halls.

This memorable plea for sanity in the arts is a 'must read'
for art lovers and scholars alike:

ARC Living Master™, Juliette Aristides, gifted artist and author:

8 Day Portrait Painting Workshop July 7-15, 2008
Location: Barrett Hall, Belmont California

Working from life and from the masters, you will follow traditional ideas and techniques of portrait painting as you develop vital tools for creating skillful portrait paintings.
You will explore varied working methods through master copies, lectures and group discussions, spending a portion of each day working on topical issues such as drawing, composition, value, color and color theory, as you study the way the master artists of the past have handled such challenges.
Over the eight days, you also create one longer painting that develops from drawing to under painting through full color. Class discussions, slide lectures and instructor demonstrations focus on building skills for successful independent work and illuminate ways to solve problems when you return to your own studio.

Published June 9, 2008

ARC Approved Atelier, Long Island Academy of Fine Art with locations in both Riverhead and Oyster Bay, has recently affiliated the ARC Approved Atelier, The New York Academy of Art, to offer landscape-painting classes in the Hamptons, Long Island, NY.

The New York Academy of Art, located in Manhattan's TriBeCa district, is a not-for-profit educational institution dedicated to the advancement of figurative painting, sculpture, and drawing, and is the first graduate school in the United States devoted exclusively to the human figure. The NYAAs distinguished faculty has historically included many of the nations most respected artists; among them today is LIAFAs own founder and director, Robert Armetta. Mr. Armetta, a graduate of the NYAA, has been teaching there for three years in addition to his classes at LIAFA, which he expanded in November of 2007 due to an increasing demand for classical studies on Long Island.
