"A Brush with HerStory" Paintings by Gabriela Gonzalez Dellosso
Published on December 17, 2019
ARC Living Master Gabriela Gonzalez Dellosso is a premier portrait artist whose art historical knowledge is surpassed only by the skill of her brushwork. This exhibition features Dellosso’s tribute paintings to great but often-overlooked female masters of the past. Looking at women artists from the Renaissance through the modern era, these exquisite academically-rendered paintings are based on in-depth study of artists including Genevieve Estelle Jones, Angelica Kauffman, Sofonisba Anguissola, Remedios Varo, and Sophie Gengembre Anderson. Sadly, these masters have never become mainstream names in the history of art, but they and their stories resonate deeply with Dellosso, who reaffirms their rightful places in art history through her exquisite old master-style paintings.
The exhibition runs form December 14, 2019 - April 12, 2020 at Polk Museum of Art at Florida Southern College, 800 Palmetto Street, Lakeland, FL 33801.

New book by Alexandra York
Published on December 3, 2019
Alexandra York, head of American Renaissance for the Twenty-first Century (ART), an ARC Allied Organization, has a new book, Soul Celebrations and Spiritual Snacks, just released in time for the holidays. ARC’s editor, Sherry Ross, was a Beta reader for her during her creative process. She has this to say about the book: “Ms. York’s book offers joyful and practical methods by which to obtain heightened spiritual experiences. It is meant for everyone. For our art lovers, here at ARC, it will be especially meaningful because the book devotes an entire chapter to the crucial importance of art in one’s life.”
Quote from the author:
“This book, (along with FROM THE FOUNTAINHEAD TO THE FUTURE and Other Essays on Art and Excellence and
CROSSPOINTS, A Novel of Choice –which is set in the art world) joins the most important offerings of my career. My thesis is both original and practical in that it will appeal to both religious and nonreligious individuals. No matter what a person’s situational context, everyone can discover new, enlivening, and soul-stirring experiences for personal happiness, inspirational energy, and spiritual fulfillment. Our essential value center—and everyone has values-- defines our distinctive personhood. This interior core can be activated by external stimuli into experiences of sustained secular, spiritual bliss, becoming celebrations of our one-and-only individualized Self. How? By connecting to and uniting –becoming “One” – with three “other” here-on-earth entities that stimulate our value center both emotionally and physically: nature, art, and romantically beloved humans.”
The e-book, paperback, and hardcover are available on all of the usual outlets like Amazon, B & N, etc. and here.
The Red Show
Published on December 2, 2019
Eleventh Street Arts presents The Red Show, an exhibition curated by Dale Zinkowski, featuring a selection of still life, figure, and portrait paintings by contemporary realist artists affiliated with Grand Central Atelier. Each painting featured in the exhibition explores the relationship between the psychological associations of the color red and the sublimity of masterful realist painting.
“Symbolically, red is the color of life. Red attracts us, conveying vitality, warmth, excitement, passion. Its meaning relates, at bottom, to the human experience of blood and fire, the burning energy of human desirousness.” - Benedikt Taschen, Book of Symbols: Reflections on Archetypal Images, 2010.
The exhibition will be on view Saturdays & Sundays 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and by appointment at Eleventh Street Arts, 46-06 11th St (at 46th Ave), Long Island City, NY 11101. The Grand Opening will take place on Thursday, December 12, 6:00 – 9:00 pm.
