Crystal Cove is a state park that inspires many paintings of a pure and colorful California. In this piece, the work is about the sound of the waves, and the softness of the cloud forms.
My project in the painting was to describe how the universe gives voice to the beauty that can be found in Creation.
One of the meanings of "anthem" is a song based on a Biblical account. I painted this in considering the sound of the waves, breaking under the sky and creating a sound for the "earth's heartbeat." The site for painting is in reality Crystal Cove, an historical community just north of Laguna Beach, California.
